Gender and Women Empowerment

This program is to bring gender issues into the mainstream of the society for the promotion of equality according to the platform for action adopted at the United Nation fourth world conference on women, held in Beijing (China) in 1995 that highlighted the necessity to ensure that Gender equality is a primary goal in all area(s) of social and economic development.

The program provide the strategy for making the concerns and experiences of women as well as that of men an integral part of the design ,implementation ,monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes in all political ,economic and societal spheres ,so that women and men benefit equally, and inequality is not perpetuated. The ultimate goal of this program is to achieve gender equality.

ECOSOC,1997 Gender equality and women’s empowerment are at the heart of the CISEGD vision. We strive to empower people in communities to “take full measures” to eliminate exploitation, abuse, harassment and violence against women, adolescents and children and also called on men to take shared responsibility for parenting, valuing children of both sexes equally, educating them and preventing violence against them. We believe that the progress of any given community is measured by how Women and girls are treated. CISEGD therefore urged actions to ensure that men actively participate with women in responsible behavior with regards sexual and reproductive matters.

Nevertheless, gender-based discrimination and violence are pervasive, undermining Women’s opportunities and denying them the ability to fully exercise their fundamental human rights and to play a powerful role in sustainable development and poverty eradication. We work with communities to empower women through sustainable economic programs and enhance women’s knowledge for self development through capacity building We believe that promoting gender equality and women’s rights is a key to equal opportunities, equitable distribution of resources towards sustainable development.
